This wonderful acrylic on fine art paper painting represents his earlier period of work. Roy was heavily influenced by Norval Morrisseau (the man who broke the taboo that natives should not sell art reflecting their symbolism and traditions) as witnessed by this piece. It has been professionally re-framed with conservation/preservation materials throughout (including Conservation Reflection Control glazing (glass)). Artwork measures 15″ x 18″, mat opening is approx.13.75″ x 16.5″, and outside frame dimensions are roughly 23″ x 26″.
The artwork has been authenticated by Louise Thomas (Roy’s widow, owner of Anishnaabe Art gallery) and appraised by her at $3,900 (Cdn) last year.
