Sultan of the Sky – original and limited edition prints available.
Painted for the 1995 World Nordic Championships held here in Thunder Bay at 'Big Thunder'.
The painting is an oil and acrylic combination on canvas, measures 30" x 40" (sight view of painting), stretched on 3/4" stretcher bars, currently in a home made frame made by the artist in 1995 (we recommend replacement and can assist in your choice and re-framing).
The painting was completed at the time of the father of the artist passing on, and is dedicated to his memory.
Brian’s reflections about the painting:
“The first time I went up on the 120 Metre jump at Big Thunder I was absolutely stunned by the height... it makes your senses reel! I knew I had to try to convey to the viewer something of that feeling. Then added to that, was the incredible panoramic view of the Norwester Range, Thunder Bay and Lake Superior. The fearless jumper in neon colours, against such a backdrop... it had to be a formula for an interesting painting!"
